A response to the death of Anne Lovett, a pregnant teenager and her child who died in 1984 at a grotto to the Virgin Mary in Granard, Co Longford in 1984. Wood, clay, bread, mixed media. 5.2ft x 2.7ft.

A sculpture from the Beast of Burden series. This series was a response to gendered oppression in Ireland and state control of women’s bodies, fertility and sexualities.
